EWspoke to James Wan about the reveal of Black Manta , and the director teased a little bit about the character . And while he would n’t discuss his place in the plot too much , he did confirm the villain wo n’t be the main resister inAquaman .
Black Manta is a really interesting type who is somehow factored into this story but our primary story is about Jason [ Momoa ] and Patrick [ Wilson ’s King Orm ] .
Though Wan does n’t state it himself , EWrefers to Aquaman ’s brother as King Orm . In the comics , the half - comrade of Arthur Cury oft vies for the stool - and at times sit down on it - but this seems to confirm that he ’ll pass part of the film as the ruler of Atlantis . in all probability , it will be the arriver of Aquaman that throws Orm ’s title into question , as Arthur is the oldest nestling and rightful successor to the can . From there , we ’ll probably see Orm will become Ocean Master , the comic volume scoundrel who on a regular basis opposes Aquaman .
We ’ve heard before that Orm is the primal scoundrel ofAquaman , but things have changed a lot since then in the DCEU . Luckily , Aquamanlooks to set the DCEU on the right pathafter some misfires along the way . Of course , audiences will still want to judge for themselves when the first preview at last come .
