Several of these other reactions praise most of the same thing that made the first moving picture so iconic , such as the combining of sci - fi with noir and the stunning visual personal effects . While this secondBlade Runnermovie is based on an original cover chronicle , it is clearly still set in the macrocosm that Dick created in his source material and that the first film first adapted , so many eld ago .
One thing fans might be hoping for is the answer to the first film ’s biggest mystery - whether Deckard a replicant himself . Fans are divided on the subject ; evenBlade Runnerdirector Ridley Scott and Deckard player Harrison Ford dissent . The side of the line that fans run to come ordinarily depend on their orientation between the director ’s cut and the theatrical cutting off ofBlade Runner . Since director Denis Villeneuve enjoyed both versions ofBlade Runner , he seek to make the continuation work for either one , and there still might not be a full answer .
