Screen Rantsat down with Gleeson to discuss his novel film , Tom Cruise thrillerAmerican Made , and asked about his current lack of bearing inStar Wars : The Last Jedi ’s publicizing , to which the actor said he felt was only to be expected due to his side in the massive output :
" I do n’t think there was much out about [ me ] for the first one either . I ’m not one of the bigger fictional character - Adam , Oscar , Daisy and John are up front and then it ’s a big line of people in the lead of me on the call sheet , so I certainly do n’t take it personally . I think they have a go at it how to commercialise Star Wars , so I ’ll go out them to it . "
Gleeson was amongstthe original mould announcement forEpisode VIIalong with the asterisk he names - Adam Driver , Oscar Isaac , Daisy Ridley and John Boyega - and the core turn back cast of characters phallus , but he ’s right that his use is n’t quite as big as some of the others . As such , the character ’s current treatment fits with what we ’ve come to expect .
This would suggest that Hux is n’t going to get a considerably boosted role inThe Last Jediand will be once again filling the role of the First Order ’s second - in - command behind Supreme Leader Snoke , who this prison term will have a physical presence . Hopefully there ’s still room in the backpack film for some sib - style bickering with Kylo Ren , though .
All that said , there has been a world-wide absence of the film ’s antagonists in general . We ’ve seen raw gain like BB-9E andSnoke ’s Supremacycare of Force Friday II , but what scourge the on - the - marching First Order actually poses has been keep vague in favour of focalise on the good guy , especiallyLuke and Rey ’s kinship . What this all mean is unreadable , but as Gleeson says , " they know how to market Star Wars " .
