Lucas sell his idea forEpisode VIIto Disney with the rest period of Lucasfilm in 2012 , and it appears that his idea were not what Disney was concerned in making . It has been heard before that Lucas debate the cut-rate sale to Disney as a " detachment " with Lucasfilm .
Despite a general feeling of separation between Lucas and Disney , earlier reports stated that Lucas"really liked"The Force Awakens . But now we ’re determine that Lucas ' apparent praise for the film may have been previous .

George expressed some uncomfortableness with the way that Disney has handled theStar Warsfranchise , which he refers to as his"kids . “He even went so far as to say , " I sold them to the lily-white slave owner that take these things , and … “he laughed , probably realizing that it was best not to cover the metaphor . Elsewhere in the interview he discussed the unlike approach that Disney desire to take .
" They see at the stories , and they enjoin , ‘ We want to make something for the fans’ … .They decided they did n’t need to use those stories , they decided they were going to do their own affair … .They were n’t that great to have me involved anyway — but if I get in there , I ’m just blend to cause hassle , because they ’re not going to do what I want them to do . And I do n’t have the restraint to do that any longer , and all I would do is muck everything up . And so I suppose , ‘ Okay , I will go my way , and I ’ll let them go their way . ' "

It ’s true thatThe Force Awakenswas definitely aretro approach , endeavor to remind fan about what they loved in the original films . In many way , The Force Awakensis like a covering fire for a vocal you really love . And in all fairness , that may be exactly what we demand flop now , a return to the old before we venture into something novel . But in the yesteryear , Star Warshas always train chances , for better or unfit , andThe Force Awakensplayed it secure . Lucas seemed to see this as a flaw in the movie :
" Of course , the only way you could really [ make money ] is not take chances . Only do something that ’s proven . You got ta remember , Star Warscame from nowhere . American Graffiticame from nowhere . There was nothing like it . Now , if you do anything that ’s not a continuation or not a TV serial or does n’t look like one , they wo n’t do it ! "
This is genuine with big business like Disney . It makes more sense to do something that has proven to be successful than to take risk . George took a risk with the originalStar Warsand await how that ante up off . He took a risk with the prequel film as well , and while they did n’t prove as critically successful as the originals , they did pave new path in the industry , and extend with ideas that had never been done before .
It ’s unfortunate that Lucas feel this way about a film that manycritics and fan praise . But the retro approaching Disney take may have been the right call , at least for now . However , if every upcomingStar Warsfilm were to take a similarly retro approach , that might get old after a while . Star Warshas always been about pushing boundaries and expectations . The original trilogy did it ; the prequel trilogy did it , and we can hope that future films will soon shape the film industriousness instead of trace it . gratefully , the upcomingStar Warsspinoff film , such as next year’sRogue One , come along to be trying new things .
