A newITfeaturette read a look at the making of Bill Skarsgard ’s Pennywise . While the horror genre has played boniface to plenty ofterrifying clowns , arguably the most iconic in story is Pennywise the Dancing Clown , create by legendary source Stephen King for his 1986 novelIT.Of line , when most people think of Pennywise , the first image they raise up is probably still of Tim Curry ’s very memorable portrayal of the character reference inIT’s1990 TV miniseries adaptation .
Going into managing director Andy Muschetti ’s newly - free theatrical adaption ofIT , one of the biggest question target was whether Bill Skarsgard could successfully manage to make the Pennywise character his own , and somehow fill Curry ’s floppy clown shoes . While whether Skarsgard outstrip Curry is very much a subject of individual ruling , what most viewers of the newITdo seem to gibe on is that Skarsgard ’s version of Pennywise is awe-inspiring in his own right field , and deserves to at least join Curry ’s rendering in the annals of all - time scariest killer clowns .
While it ’ll be at least a few months untilITcomes place - hopefully arrant with lots of special characteristic - a new featurette takes a behind - the - scenes look at what went into creating Skarsgard ’s Pennywise . The all over featurette can be seen above , and while it ’s sadly not very long , it ’s still a reasonably cool small treat for fan . Stephen King himself even pop up to offer praise to Skarsgard , and it ’s punishing to reckon of a good seal of approval than that .
In an interesting note from the above TV , the youthful Losers ' Club cast was patently kept apart from Skarsgard on set until the motion-picture photography of the projector scene , in which the intact radical get wind Pennywise together for the first clock time . This allowed Muschetti to get the actor ' genuine reactions to seeing Skarsgard in his full Pennywise glorification for the first time . Similarly , the vernal cast of the 1990 miniseries was also mostly kept asunder from Curry , so as to forbid them from getting too comfortable around him .
While reviews of Skarsgard ’s Pennywise have been for the most part extremely positive , one ailment some have had is that he just is n’t give way enough to do . While Pennywise appears frequently during the film , his time on - screen is still quite brief overall , with the persona also sometimes being substantiate via CGI .
