James Cameron has revealed his view on Ridley Scott ’s latest film , Alien : Covenant . Scott had direct the original franchise instalment , Alien , which breed multiple sequels – Cameron’sAliensin 1986 , David Fincher’sAlien 3 in 1992 , and Jean - Pierre Jeunet’sAlien : Resurrectionin 1997 – and end up creating one of the most beloved science fiction properties in picture palace history . Scott returned to the dealership in 2012 with hisAlienprequel film , Prometheus , with design to establish a greaterAlienuniverse .
Prometheushad answered some questions that fan had been inquire for years , but it also presented many more interrogative sentence that needed to be addressed . Scott , then , finally publish thePrometheussequel earlier this summertime , Alien : Covenant , which rooter were hoping wouldanswer some of those tarry question . Unfortunately , common complaints about the sequel were that it did n’t necessarily expand upon the mythology that was laid out inPrometheusand that the movie tookfar too many cue from Scott ’s original 1979 study . Plus , some people were n’t happy with the manner the film ended , and that ’s something that Cameron seems to tally with .

Cameron has been interfering promote the coming 3D re - release ofTerminator 2 : Judgment Day , and in a recentFacebook Liveinterview , the filmmaker addressed Scott ’s a la mode movie . The director praised Scott ’s filmmaking style and beautiful visuals , even call the movie " a great ride , " which many critics agreed with . However , he said it was n’t the type of movie he would have made .
" I thought that Alien : Covenant was a nifty ride . It was beautiful . I love Ridley ’s film , I love his filmmaking ; I love the peach of the photography . I love the visceral sense that you ’re that , that you ’re present . It ’s not a film that I would have made . I hope I ’m not foil this for anybody , but I do n’t like photographic film where you endue in a character and they get demolish at the end . So , I would not have made that cinema . I ca n’t comment on where he ’s going with it , but I intend he ’s , obviously , trying to make a greater universe around it and more backstory with the Engineers and so on . I ’ll show up to the next one , dead . "
