Carpenter has spoken many times in the past about how he never intendedHalloweento become a franchise , and that he is n’t a fan of the various sequels . He was contractually bound to write 1981’sHalloween II , where he introduced the Michael / Laurie twist . This family connecter has since become a huge part of the series lore , so if the new film is ignoring everything after the original , that could meanMichael Myersand Laurie wo n’t be siblings this meter around .
Part of the reason devotee are excited about this unexampled movie is the reunification ofJohn Carpenterand Jamie Lee Curtis , in addition to Blumhouse producing it . While the conclusion to wipe other sequels out of existence may untune some longtime fans , it makes a certain amount of mother wit .
