Lionsgate has announced plans for a Times Square - based entertainment building complex that will let in attractive feature base around some of its biggest franchises , includingJohn Wick . Certain movie studio apartment have iconic brand associated with them . When one hears “ Disney , ” they often connect it with Mickey Mouse , Goofy , Snow White , rides at Walt Disney World , and now , theatrical role from theStar Warsand Marvel franchises . “ Warner Brothers ” brings to bear in mind Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes graphic symbol , and also Batman and the other DC Comics character .
Lionsgate , on the other hired hand , does n’t precisely carry that sorting of cultural weight . In fact , it ’s only been around since 1997 and was known as “ Lions Gate ” until not that long ago . It ’s known primarily as a telecasting production sign , which produced such series asMad Men , Weeds , andNurse Jackie . On the flick side , it ’s know forThe Hunger GamesandJohn Wickfilms , and its accomplishment of Summit gave it mastery of theTwilightseries . Now , however , Lionsgate is going to have another big front , in the center of New York City .
Deadlineis report that a deal has been reached for an “ indoor amusement center of attention , ” in New York ’s Times Square , with Lionsgate branding . It will be the first of several entertainment centers around the globe that Lionsgate and leisure park operator Parques Reunidos now intend to uprise together . The New York location is set to open in 2019 , although the exact location in Times Square has yet to be revealed .
The marrow will feature attractions ground on various Lionsgate properties , includingJohn WickandHunger Gamesrides , aDivergentobstacle course , and a “ dining and lounge experience ” base onMad Men . There will also be restaurant and food options based on the holding , as well as a 4D theatre and a Lionsgate studio apartment store .
Can this estimation work ? It ’s certainly risky , for a number of reason . Times Square material estate is among the most expensive in the world . The Lionsgate brand name is not nearly as leisurely a sell as Disney , nor does it have any tie to the unrecorded attractions business - and by the prison term the attraction open , theHunger GamesandDivergentfranchises will be pretty far in the past times . Plus , great asMad Menwas , not that many people watch it - and if the locus does n’t allow smoke , which is ordinarily the case in New York , then it wo n’t really feel anything likeMad Men .
Even so , aMad Men - themed restaurant by itself sounds like one of the more fun potential attractions in New York City . It would just have to enforce a radically dissimilar dress computer code than theHunger Gamesattraction .
