Screen Rant sat down with Josh and blab about his graphic symbol , change from the first film , Matt ’s relationship with Alejandro , and Josh ’s futurity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe .
SR : What brought you back to this one ? And what did you want to research with your character ?
Josh : I do n’t think I had an intention to explore anything in particular . I call up that , Taylor , when he compose it , Taylor Sheridan , I think he had an mind of a trilogy . Of doing three . And Benicio is always a major draw for me . We ’ve done a lot of movies together . Five so far . And I have a feeling we ’ll do more . There ’s something that happens when you have a trust with somebody and it feels less competitive . I do n’t have that necessarily , maybe because I ’m older . Not aged than Benny . But we ’re the same age . When you work with younger mass they ’re all trying to do the best thing and all that . Whereas Benny and I just kind of had an easy volley back and forth . And we can kind of get into the emotion of it quicker . He was a major draw to me . Dariusz Wolski was a major haul to me . Taylor Sheridan , I think is a very , very special guy right now . moderately brilliant . So yeah , there were a wad of elements . bootleg label media Brobdingnagian for me .
SR : Was there anything that you make for to the character that was n’t necessarily on the Sir Frederick Handley Page , this go around ?
Josh : Yeah . We talked about it a deal . But I like that there ’s some time between the ending of the first one and the beginning of this one . So , what we talked about is , he was so unvanquishable in the first one . He ’s so arrogant in the first one . That I want to see that start to crack up a little act . So , when you see him , there ’s a piffling more weight to him psychically and physically and all that . His eyes are a picayune swollen , so you could say he ’s kind of been through something . And this idea of invincibility is not really working out anymore . So , I always see this movie as the movie of consequence . It ’s like nothing ’s quite working out as well as it did before . It ’s not like that .
SR : Talk to me about the relationship of how Matt might view Alejandro this go around .
Josh : I think he views him the same in the get-go . And the matter is , again , you have this big military or governmental plan . I ’d rather call it a governmental plan . And then , this is his guy cable , this is the guy that he uses . And like Benny and I , we trust each other and all that . We work well together . There ’s a shorthand and all that . And then there ’s a humans that abstract in there . This relationship with this daughter that reminds him of his daughter . Me . I have a relationship with him . So , the government is telling me to do something . And I do n’t like that . And I start respond to that . So , I like the fact that something gets discover in this . And then what shew through is the humanity of both these characters , that you did n’t of necessity see in the first movie .
SR : utterly . Now I ’m switching gears for a second . A lot of our readers are huge fans of you as Thanos and Deadpool . Are there any plans postAvengers 4 ? Because I know that Marvel ’s developingThe Eternals , which Thanos-
Josh : I did n’t cognize that .
SR : Oh yeah . Thanos is a big part of it .
Josh : Does that think I ’ll be in it ?
SR : That ’s what I ’m skip .
Josh : That ’s good to know . ( LAUGHS )
SR : Because Thanos is such an interesting character . Half philosopher , half warrior . And you limn that perfectly .
Josh : Yeah , but you know what , I do n’t acknowledge what the futurity bring . Who knows ? But I screw the idea of something finite like this . I ’ve never been imply in sequels . The fact that we ’ve done some of the Avengers 2 , sorry , Avengers 4 , but Infinity War 2 . I ’m go back and I ’m conk to do more . We ’re work to do some reshoots and all that . So , I ’m excited about that . I love the Russo ’s . I love working on Avengers . I did n’t recall I was going to . And I actually sleep together it . I did n’t even wish it . I loved it . I like playing that grapheme . It ’s a Brando - esque form of Apocalypse Now quality . And it ’s fun . But do n’t know . I do n’t know what the future hold . I ’ve been storm my full career . So , we ’ll see .
