A new clip fromLeatherfacefeatures Lili Taylor as Leatherface ’s mom , Verna Sawyer . Directed by Gallic filmmakers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury ( Inside),Leatherfaceis actually the 2nd cinematic endeavour to tell the story of Leatherface ’s origin . The first try at doing this came with 2006’sTexas Chainsaw Massacre : The Beginning , a prequel to 2003’sTexas Chainsaw Massacreremake . Unlike that motion-picture show , Leatherfacewill serve as a prequel to the tardy Tobe Hooper ’s original 1974Texas Chainsaw Massacrefilm .

The overall persistence of theTexas Chainsaw Massacrehorror franchise has become quite Byzantine over the years , although Leatherface ’s position as a genre ikon has more or less remain intact through it all . Hooper ’s ownTexas Chainsaw Massacre 2was a direct sequel to the original , albeit much more comedic . Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3got weird , introducing an entire new family for Leatherface , with no explanation . TCM : The Next Generationgot even weirder , introducing alien into the mix , and produce yet another new family .

2003 ’s remaking readjust the franchise persistence completely , but after 2006’sThe Beginningcame 2013’sTexas Chainsaw 3D , which was itself ostensibly a direct sequel to Hooper ’s master . This was refine by cast Alexandra Daddario as a character that should logically have been much old . Maury and Bustillo’sLeatherfaceseems to once again be ignoring every motion picture but the original . Yahootoday got its hand on a new clip from the prequel , boast Lili Taylor ( The Conjuring ) as Verna Sawyer and Stephen Dorff ( Blade ) as a vengeful Texas Ranger out to get her . It ’s unclear ground alone on the above clip why precisely Dorff ’s character is so absorbed on punishing the Sawyers , but what he says to Verna - " you take one of mine , I take all of yours " - clearly suggests that he holds her family responsible for the loss of someone close to him . deliberate the history of the Sawyer kinsperson in the variousTexas Chainsaw Massacrewmovies though , it ’s not hard to consider that Dorff ’s peace officer is utterly right in wanting to get Verna ’s kids the hell away from that household , no matter his motivation .

After the widely pannedTexas Chainsaw 3D , Leatherfacewill hopefully be able to reinstate theTexas ChainsawMassacrefranchise as one deserving watching . The fact that the cinema has been sitting on a shelf for three years is n’t on the button encouraging , but to be bonny , studio do n’t always have a go at it best when it comes to lineament .
