The latest collaborationism between Marvel and Funko takes Star - Lord and Groot on the ride of their life . BeforeGuardians of the Galaxy , gens like Groot , Rocket Racoon , and Star - Lord were make out only to comic book diehards . Thanks to the success of theGuardiansfilms , however , they ’ve become some of Marvel ’s biggest mascots . Not only has that allow for more ware , it also means that the characters keep showing up in unexpected places ( base park ride , record , etc . ) .
The Guardians will converge up with Earth ’s Mightiest Heroes inAvengers : Infinity Warnext year , before they seem inAvengers 4 in 2019 andGuardians of the Galaxy Vol . 3 in ( probably ) 2020 . It seems as though the Guardians are going to become more crucial than ever to the MCU from hereon out , with multiplespinoffs of theGuardiansmovie franchisealready in development . The short ends on a literal cliffhanger , so there ’s no telling if it ’s a one - guesswork with a vague ending or the first part of a larger story . The latter would n’t be surprising , as this is one of many shorts Funko has made with Marvel . Previous boxers have feature the Collector , Deadpool versus Venom , andSpider - Man pickings on Loki . For both companies , it ’s a fun path to promote the toy line and keep to secern smaller stories with the characters .
Along with the underdrawers , Marvel and Funko ’s relationship has keep on in real aliveness .
