Pacific Rim: Uprising
While a heavy screen clash between the universes ofPacific Rim , King KongandGodzillais potential , it appears there are no immediate plans to make it chance . Warner Brothers is already well afoot with their plannedMonsterVerse , which kicked off with their 2014Godzillareboot . This Gareth Edwards directed blockbuster re - inaugurate the King of the Monsters to modern audiences , making him a terrific violence of nature - who ’s also kind of a badass .
Warners then moved on toKong : Skull Island , which boot King Kong and gave him one hell of a size boost . The film was well received critically and financially , and both Godzilla and Kong will face off against each other in 2020 ’s appropriately titledGodzilla Vs Kong . Pacific Rim : Uprisingwill arrive in 2018 , and while on paper a crossing between all three dealership makes sense , it ’s not necessarily that straightforward .

Cinema Blendspoke with Cale Boyter from Legendary during a set visit forPacific flange : Uprising , where they in brief touch on the feeling of all three franchises combining . In short , it ’s not in the immediate future , though Boyter did give a cryptic vamp about another cool idea he has for the franchise :
“ There ’s no design to merge . Understandably that might be coolheaded , but I might have something up my sleeve that will storm you - that I mean you bozo will love , that I believe is better than the obvious approach .
It would certainly be fun to see all three franchise joined up , andPacific Rimseems like it would fit neatly within theMonsterVerse . That state , the population ofPacific Rimand the other moving picture would demand some narrative tinkering to link together organically . For example , if they all existed in the same world , then the creation of giant monsters should n’t be so shocking to the quality inGodzilla -since the Kaijus fromPacific Rimhad already rampaged through San Francisco the previous year .
For now at least , Warner Bros is focus onGodzilla : King of the Monsters , which will find the eponymic wildcat taking on Mothra , Rodan , and King Ghidorah . Adam Wingard’sGodzilla Vs Kongwill come after that , but Legendary will no doubt be call up of where they can take the franchise from there . If Boyter ’s comment is anything to go by , they already have some cool ideas in nous , but some tolerant ofPacific Rim / MonsterVersealso feels inevitable in some ways .
