Ocean ’s 8returns to theOcean ’s Elevenfranchise , this time following Debbie Ocean - butis her brother Danny Ocean really dead ? Fans of the dealership will know that George Clooney ’s Danny Ocean is the protagonist ofOcean ’s Eleven , as well as its two spinoffs . The conman was the architect of the heist inOcean ’s Elevenand assembled the gang that pluck it off . Ocean ’s 8is a good continuation of that celluloid series , this time following Danny ’s babe Debbie ( Sandra Bullock ) .
InOcean ’s 8 , Debbie assembles her own , slightly small squad to slip a Cartier necklace from the neck of a celebrity attending the annual Met Gala in New York City . The absolute majority of Debbie ’s team is made up of characters new to theOcean’sfranchise , but viewers do get to see some conversant faces . Not only does Danny ’s financier Reuben Tishkoff ( Elliot Gould ) make an appearance , but Danny ’s honest-to-god brother , the Amazing Yen ( Shaobo Qin ) , plays a central role in Debbie ’s plan . As for Danny himself , he appear to have passed away , with Debbie visiting his gravesite betimes on in the film . Still , considering he ’s a conman , devotee may be wondering if he’sreallydead .

Given all the clues inOcean ’s 8 , Danny Ocean is n’t really dead- probably . The first indication Debbie ’s blood brother may have faked his own death is Reuben ’s conversation with Debbie at his sober site . He seek to persuade her not to attempt the holdup she ’s been plan , and at one stop says,“He said it was superb . And you would probably terminate up in prison . “It ’s unclouded the " he " being referred to here is Danny , but it can be represent two fashion . Either Debbie shared her design with Danny before he died , and he recite Reuben his opinion of it before his death . Or , Danny is n’t really bushed , he ’s merely communicating with Debbie through Reuben .
However , that is n’t the only confidential information Danny Ocean is n’t really stagnant . His gravestone heel Danny as having die in 2018 , which would make it very late inOcean ’s 8 , but Debbie does n’t appear very low up about it . In fact , Debbie herself casts question on Danny ’s death throughout the movie . When looking at his gravesite , she says,“You better really be in there . “Later , when asked if he ’s really dead , Debbie does n’t confirm whether he ’s dead or alive . It ’s clear Debbie is skeptical of her sidekick ’s conjecture demise .
So where does that allow fans ? The movie seems to desire viewing audience to be as unsure about Danny ’s fate as Debbie . Though it ’s indecipherable whether that ’s to soften the C of the character being go , or to leave behind the door open for a potentialOcean ’s 8sequel feature Debbie and Danny Ocean . Ocean ’s 8doesn’t have a post - credits scenery , which would have been the quality opportunity to set up such a subsequence - and give fans a concrete solvent about Danny ’s destiny . Still , if this return to theOcean’sfranchise proves to be a success , the ambiguity around Danny ’s opine death allows for Clooney to return to the role in a future installment .

For now , our best guess is that Danny Ocean is still awake inOcean ’s 8and he faked his own demise . He is a conman , after all , so it ’s not out of the land of theory .
