Warning : The stick to review take some SPOILERS about the first[REC]and some mild ones about[REC ] 2 .

Those of you favourable enough to have seen the Spanish language revulsion film[REC]will hopefully concord that it was one of the scariest and most effective flick of its type in years ( for me it goes on a list of " all time best " ) . It took a well - trodden sub - musical genre of repugnance - the zombie film - and injected reinvigorated life into it .

And I ca n’t call back any other metre I was as freaked out in a theatre of operations as I was view that film .

With the way the first picture ended it was really no surprisal that there was going to be a[REC ] 2 . The thing that makes the idea of a sequel OK is that the original filmmakers - namely writers and director Jaume Balagueró   and Paco Plaza - yield to fright us once more .

So does the subsequence bring home the bacon ?   Well in its goal to affright you , absolutely , but I have to accommodate it ’s not as effective as the original picture show .

[ REC ] 2picks up literally 15 hour after the ending of the previous film , with a SWAT team being sent in to the flat building to find out what occur when the virus first broke out ( which we figure in the first picture show ) . This gives the story a veridical sense of immediacy - a lot of sequels will stand out onward in clock time and find a way to revisit the events of the first film in some sorting of convoluted elbow room ( The Descent : Part 2 , anyone ? ) but here we get to revisit the fear direct away .

One of the nifty new addition to[REC ] 2is the fashion we are allowed to see the consequence from several different perspective . At first we observe the SWAT squad who handily enough have tv camera on their helmets to put down the evidence ( a cunning touch ) , then we modify to the perspective of a group of tiddler who were make problem and managed to find themselves trapped in the building ( they also have a television camera ) . Third … permit ’s just say we exchange cameras again but I wo n’t spoil where it issue forth from and whose camera it is ( if you ’ve seen the first film you may probably guess what I ’m hinting at there ) .

The strengths of[REC ] 2lie in the same expanse as the first one - the building of standard pressure and the expertly judged start - panic . A luck of horror picture will just have jump - scares ( seemingly ) randomly placed throughout the movie and think that a loud noise counts as a undecomposed panic . But the manager of[REC]and its sequel realize you require to clock it well - and here there was at least five clock time I jumped out of my buns .

confessedly this continuation does n’t survive up to the master in terms of pure scare , but that may be because I ’m used to the trend and was more quick for whenever something jumped out . But the biggest affair the first one has over the sequel is the fact we spend prison term with the main type before they go into the building , growing to care about what happens to them , if only for a small while . But the subsequence dives straight into the activeness and although this may mean less waiting around , it does make the character harder to care about as people - and they feel more like just fodder for the zombies .

Probably the biggest defect of[REC ] 2was that it had too many picture that seek to explain just what the orphic virus is . Although a sequel is ripe territory to give us more information about what is going on , there were a few too many tantrum of characters put up around shouting at the expert who has been sent in with the SWAT team , demanding to know what the virus is . I just palpate like more could have been left up to the viewer to calculate out , as the first one did .

Not to give anything away , but the film by all odds set thing up for the sequel(s ) to come.[REC ] 3and4are already in the worksand you ’ll be beaming to know it ’s not just for the sake of it - there really is a lot more juice left in the tank .

Like its predecessor,[REC ] 2is definitely not for the fainthearted or the prissy . If its potential this one is even gorier , with more up - shut - and - personal scene of   the blood - eruct infected and swash heads . However , if you have the stomach for that variety of thing and are a fan of fast - paced and frantic repulsion films then you should have a blast with this one .
