Kingsman: The Golden Circle
Kingsman : The Golden Circleis full of A - inclination stars , but its undisputed lead is Taron Egerton . The breakout ofThe Secret Service(his first feature film ) , Egerton is back as super spy Eggsy on a risque , violent , world - spanning missionary post . But he ’s not just Galahad - the actor ’s forging out a major calling for himself , with a newRobin Hoodfranchise on the room and a biopic ofKingsman 2co - star Elton John .
Screen Rantrecently catch up with Egerton to discuss his rise to the top , Kingsman ’s propensity for controversy , where the franchise will go next and much , much more .
Obviously , this is a massive , monolithic movie . Did you have any inclination when you signed on for the first one it would become this monolithic franchise ? This original franchise no less .
I intend there was certainly something about it . I was familiar with Matthew ’s body of work , and obviously it ’s unbelievable . He ’s a real artist of Zea mays everta amusement I think . Yeah , I sort of had an incling there was something a bit special about it , but to be fair , since it was only my first moving picture I had nothing to compare it to so there was no certainty . I was only a year out of drama school , so I could n’t claim an aficionado of script - recital and judging projects , I was just taking what I could get .
And do you see it pass bigger ? Because the ending of this one leaves it very clear that there ’s room for a third one . Where would you like to see the enfranchisement go , but also your theatrical role go , as it continues to grow ?
I think I would care to see … I guess we ’ve get a lot of characters now and I hump them all but I would be heartbroken if it was n’t me saving the earthly concern in the third one . I suppose I ’ve earned that . I believe I ’d like to see me pull through the Clarence Day .
You do n’t want it to be an corps de ballet ?
I do . I think everyone should be included but I think it ’s Eggsy ’s … I ’m being very narcissistic . I ’m understandably very threatened by these A - listers . I ’d wish to be the guy who labour the button when it most matters – or discontinue someone pushing the button as it were . And also I guess I ’d like to see him put in a really difficult place in the third one – really alienated .
More difficult than Glastonbury ?
Oh God , yeah . For actor and grapheme .
I want your thoughts on that vista because that shot , I imagine , is going to be the one that causes the most …
Ruffles feathers .
Yes , just . What are your thoughts on that ?
It was a day that I was anxious about . The shot in the first moving-picture show I was so anxious before we did it and Matthew did n’t tell me that I would n’t actually be in the shot . The way it was described in the script it was like ‘ I ’m run to do what ? ’ But it was n’t me , it was a POV . In this one , I ’m in the shot and I pronounce to Matthew ‘ I ’m not well-to-do doing this ’ . So it ’s not my hand – it ’s Poppy [ Delevingne ] ’s married man ’s hand .
He saved the daytime .
He redeem the day . He saved the world . It ’s what Matthew does , it ’s his signature matter . He likes to do something that scandalize . In Kick - Ass it was Chloe Grace Moretz saying the C - Son , in Kingsman 1 it was the bum guesswork of the Swedish princess , and in this one it ’s the affair . And , you know , it ’s not to everyone ’s taste , but it certainly produce the great unwashed talking .
I personally receive it almost a send - up of Bond and the idea of , why would Bond always end up in that spot , peculiarly during the Craig material ?
All it is is explicitly showing what Bond allude to and enjoin in a double entendre kind of way .
Speaking of Bond and spies and stuff , you were inArcher , kind of …
Yes . It ’s not actually my voice .
It ’s not your voice ?
It so sounds like me . I was quite upset .
Yeah , why did n’t they ask you ?
I do n’t know . I do n’t know . I imply I sort of thought " Who on solid ground have you found that sounds that much like me ? "
This is run root word of you almost neglect , because apparently you didEddie the Eagleand you did n’t get to ski in this one ? And you ’re carrying ski and I was like " oh , there ’s depart to be a ski sequence " .
I did a little bit . I did n’t do any of the jump .
Yeah , but you put the boots on .
That ’s it yeah . miss out on the sport stuff .

One final head . You ’ve gotRobin Hood : Origins , coming up . evidently , Robin Hood has been done a lot …
I think they ’re cutting the Origins out of it , I ’m so alleviated to say .
That is very in effect to hear . OK , you ’re doingRobin Hood . What are you going to do other than to all the many versions of Robin Hood before ?
I guess it will be less self - venerating than the Robin Hoods that have come before . I think the trouble with Robin Hood sometimes is that … I love the Kevin Costner one and I believe there were some large moments in the Russell Crowe one as well , but they ’re very , very , very ‘ Robin Hood - y ’ .
OK .
Ours is less Robin Hood - y. It ’s gamey , it ’s darker , it ’s a Robin Hood for the 21st Century .
Game of ThronesRobin Hood ?
Kind of . I think if you ’ve take care Peaky Blinders , you ’ll know something of the tone of it because it ’s the same conductor .
