The Avengers
There ’s been muchdiscussion and debate regarding the so - called " aliens"ofThe Avengers – otherwise known as Loki ’s United States Army – which we ’ve so far picture only glimpses of via trailers and goggle box situation . Initial speculation almost exclusively revolved around Marvel ’s most famous aliens , the Skrulls and the Kree , butboth of those races were nixedby manufacturer Kevin Feige and director Joss Whedon .
In the most recentTV spot , entitled " principal Count,“we got our best , clearest look at the aliens yet .

Unfortunately , the glimpse have done little to narrow down our tilt of alien defendant – and have , perhaps , even carry it a chip .

Ord / The Breakworld Aliens
In a webisode of Marvel ’s The Watcher , a Lego representative referred to a bad guy inThe Avengersas the alien horde ( at the 3:50 mark ) – but many a laughable book fan thought he said " exotic Ord . "
Ord was an noncitizen from Breakworld , created by Joss Whedon , that show up in his acclaimed run onAstonishing X - Men , so it ’s not entirely outside the realm of possibility that Whedon would habituate Ord ’s race as lower-ranking high-risk guys in his own film . Not likely , of course , but entirely possible .
The Badoon
The Badoon are an vague reptilian raceway of alien conqueror , former than both the Skrulls and the Kree . That ’s just a vague enough back - floor to work with what we ’ve seen of the aliens inThe Avengers , who have a slenderly greenish chromaticity and lounge lizard - like eyes .
Beta Ray Bill / The Korbinites
The foreigner in the ( above ) picture certainly has a horse - facial expression quality about him , which immediately brings to mind rooter - favorite Beta Ray Bill – the first non - Norse character to be view as worthy of picking up Thor ’s hammer , Mjolnir . Bill was a penis of the Korbinite exotic race , so is it potential that these creatures are the Korbinites , thus lead to the introduction of Beta Ray inThor 2 ?
The only trouble withthattheory is that Bill was the only member of the race to have a horse - face – the eternal rest of the Korbinites were essentially orange android . Still , one presumes that , for simpleness ’s interest , the filmmakers would drop that vista of the part ’s back - story and make all the Korbinites horse - faces .
The Sons of the Muspell
This was a possibility put forth byBrendon Connelly ofBleeding Cooland , frankly , it ’s one that has a lot of deservingness . In Walt Simonson ’s Surtur Saga storyline , during his streamlet on Thor , The Sons of Muspell ( demons from Muspellheim – one of the Nine Worlds in Norse mythology ) were transported into New York City via a portal site near the top of the Empire State Building . They then keep to snipe the metropolis , as Marvel supervillains are know to do .

The persona in the funny book are certainly reminiscent of what we ’ve seen in the trailers forThe Avengers . Now , you might be saying:“But if these creature are from Norse mythology , does n’t that make them not extraterrestrial being – thus disqualifying them from a listing of alien suspect ? "
Well , if you watchedThor , then you get laid there ’s no veridical divergence between aliens and the Norse mythological beings of the Marvel movie universe . Thor himself is an alien . With a horse . ( Analienhorse ? ) So , too , would these Sons of Muspell be aliens , if indeed they ’re inThe Avengers .
Is that Thanos ' oral sex - gear ?
cyberspace speculator have already commented on the resemblance between the extraterrestrial ’s head - gear ( up top ) and Thanos the Mad Titan ’s pass - gear ( above ) . While the alien search nothing like Thanos in any other deference and is almost definitely not the Avatar of Death himself , could these alien be tied to him somehow ?
After all , there has been many a rumor aboutThanos ' connection to the forthcomingAvengersfilm– and the Cosmic Cube in particular . His famed Infinity Gauntlet even made an appearance inThor .
Chitauri
Arguably , if these aliens are n’t the Skrulls , they could still be the Ultimate macrocosm version of the Skrulls , A.K.A. the Chitauri – right ? But remember whatJoss Whedon say about the aliens in question :
" The Skrulls - they can shape change . That ’s a whole thing . I ’ve already got Loki . He ’s got magic . Once you incur thaumaturgy along with your Iron Man and your Black Widow - it ’s a real hoodwink number . "
Hence , throwing shape - changing alien into the admixture would be way too much for one pic . So if these aliensdoend up being called the Chitauri , then they ’ll be a Chitauri that does n’t form - alteration , and therefore a Chitauri in name only .
Honestly , I ’ve no idea who these aliens are . If I had to guess , I ’d put money on either the Badoon – who look and act vaguely enough like the creatures we ’ve pick up onscreen – or the Sons of Muspell – who have basically done the thing in the comic book that we ’ve already seen in the trailers ( plus , they marry instantly into Loki ’s backcloth ) . Of course , there ’s always the possibility that these aliens have been made up specifically for the film and have no connection to any preexist theatrical role .
Frankly , whatever / whomever these aliens are revealed to be , I think sports fan are run short to be disappointed . Not with the movie itself , manifestly , but specifically with the exotic reveal . It ’s becoming more and more apparent that whatever subspecies Joss Whedon and company are using , it ’s go to be obscure to all but Marvel ’s most ardent fans , and maybe not even then .
