Cult repugnance picture anthologyTrick ’ r Treatwas virtually directed by some of the bountiful names in the musical genre . Despite being essentially released straight to videodisc back in 2009 , a warm fanbase chop-chop started to gather aroundTrick ’ radius Treat . The moving picture is set during Halloween in a modest town and tells four account involving serial killer , werewolves and zombies - all of which are linked by a satanic little trick or treater named Sam .
The film was written and directed by Michael Dougherty , who would go on to organise the Christmas set horror flickKrampus . Trick ’ r Treatwas base on an animated brusk film calledSeason ’s greeting , which also featured the part of Sam . Dougherty sent the short out to a few people , with late consequence wizard Stan Winston ( The Terminator , Aliens ) being the first to respond .
During an audience on the podcastPost Mortem With Mick Garris , Dougherty revealed that at one gunpoint Winston was set to produce the movie - and had assembled a top - notch batting order of directors for each of the four tarradiddle . However , no studio at the time were concerned in fund an anthology film , so it drop asunder :
“ But the way he wanted to do with it was a traditional anthology , where you go out and get a director for each one . So he assembled , at the metre , George Romero , John Carpenter and Tobe Hooper . What a lineup , right ? ask it out … nobody require to touch it . ”
While that reading ofTrick ’ r Trickwould have no doubt been awe-inspiring , Dougherty was eventually able to get it funded and address it himself years subsequently . The film director has since moved on toGodzilla : King of the Monsters , which is the sequel to Gareth Edwards ' 2014Godzillafranchise reboot . Dougherty also revealed his inscrutable dear for the wholeGodzillaseries on the podcast , and that he jumped at the chance to direct it as soon as it was offer .
Dougherty also utter about a potentialTrick ' r Treatsequelduring the chat , which was first announced by Legendary back in 2013 . Little has been hear about the production since then , though Dougherty revealed during he plans to revisit the sequel once work onGodzillais complete :
" My hope is that once Godzilla has been put to residue that I can dive back into it . I would love to finish writing it in post - product ( of Godzilla ) and then I ’d love to make it my next project . But we ’ll see . "
