Zachary Levi has opened up about being drift as the lead-in inShazam ! , showing how activated he is to be playing the original Captain Marvel . It would be an understatement to say fans were surprise by yesterday ’s news thatLevi will play Shazamin DC ’s upcoming film . For the past few years , virtually nothing has been make out about the movie save Dwayne Johnson ’s potential involution as the villainous Black Adam . When Johnson and Black Adam rather landed their own movie in the beginning this year , thing went quiet on theShazam!front .
That all change this summer , however , whenLights Outdirector David F. Sandberg was brought aboard to helm the movie . Despite his horror lineage , and the similar workplace of theAnnabelle : Creationcinematographer and production designerwho will be joining him , hopes are mellow for what Sandberg can contribute to the moving-picture show . He ’s been regularly fluff fans on social medium , establishing the faint tone ofShazam!with fake plot info . Now that Levi is on board and shot is just a few calendar month away from starting , fans should be hearing a raft more about the movie shortly .

Levi naturally seems over the moon about the cast . Saying he ’s both " honored and greatly humbled " to bring together DC , he also do a quick mention of the original Captain Marvel . fan will know the retentive and complicatedhistory of Captain Marvel / Shazam , but it ’s interesting to see Levi himself call out the connector . Obviously , the moving-picture show wo n’t be using the zep ’s original name , but clearly Levi has done his homework .
This is accompanied by Boss Logic’sconcept fine art for Levi as Shazam . Though the artist ’s style stay on factious , his steadfast outturn means he ’s often the go - to creative person when cast news break . Regardless , it ’s a fully grown deal for someone like Levi to promote an artist ’s work , let alone in their big casting reaction .
It ’s also not clear if Levi ’s short letter about connect the DC Universe is just due to Shazam ’s mirthful origin or if this is further trial impression thatShazam!will exist in the erstwhile DCEU .
